The climate of Barbados is tropical with no winter season. Temperatures vary more from day to night than they do from month to month. However during the dry season which runs from end of December to the beginning of June there is more sunshine, fewer days with rain and less heat and humidity than during the wet season.
In the wet season Barbados actually gets less rain than neighbouring Caribbean islands and at this time of year there are still long hours of sunshine most days. However from June to November high heat and humidity can be a problem for some people. Fortunately onshore winds can help to alleviate this. The east coast faces directly on to the Atlantic and the winds here are always stronger and the seas rougher than on the tranquil west coast.
There is also a small chance between July and November that the island may be affected by the passage of tropical storms, including hurricanes. Luckily Barbados lies some way to the south of the normal track of these storms so a direct hit is very unlikely.
Barbados weather statistics show average temperatures, monthly rainfall, the number of days in the month when some rain is recorded and the daily average hours of sunshine. Also included is an indicator of the level of discomfort from heat and humidity, the average sea temperature and how strong UV radiation can be in the middle of the day.
